Uelzen, 16 January 2025
On Friday 10 January 2025, three cases of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) were detected in water buffalo on a farm in Hönow, Brandenburg, and confirmed by the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health, the Friedrich-Löffler-Institut (FLI). Germany has now lost its “FMD-free” status. The FLI clearly states that there is no health risk from pasteurised milk or the dairy products produced from this milk.
Since the announcement, the Uelzena Group has instigated a comprehensive set of preventative measures at all its production sites to ensure the protection of our products at all times. The relevant managers at Uelzena are in close communication with officials and authorities.
The current case of foot-and-mouth disease is highly localised and we will monitor the further development closely.
