Cutting-edge spray-drying technology ready for next phase of construction

The Uelzena Group lays the cornerstone for its new spray-drying plant and stays on track despite the weather conditions

A small group celebrated the cornerstone ceremony last week for the Uelzena Group's new million-euro investment. The groundwork for the new spray-drying plant is finished along with the in situ concrete works. The next concrete layer of the shell construction now holds the cornerstone, made from V2A stainless steel – to match the material of the drying technology that will be added later.

Construction work on schedule

Representing Uelzena at the ceremony were: Vice-chairman of the Board, Wilhelm Günther, milk producer and farmer; Managing Director and Chairman of the Board, Jörn Dwehus; and Project Manager Michael Esan. The senior management and the site foreman arrived from the construction company carrying out the structural work. Jörn Dwehus undertook the task of placing the cornerstone in the prepared foundation. He and Mr Günther thanked those involved for their quick and competent work to date and wished the tradesmen a safe construction period without incident.

Mr Dwehus continues: “I would also like to extend my special thanks to our internal team who have achieved a great deal in the past two years planning the project – and without whom we would not be standing here today.” He also thanked the owners of Uelzena eG, the dairy farmers, whose far-sighted decisions continue to support the Group’s positive development and continued market diversification.

Contracts awarded to regional companies

The construction company commissioned with the structural building work is based in the local area. Other subcontracted work has also been awarded to regional companies. Sustainable development of the region is important to the Uelzena Group at their plant sites and is part of its corporate strategy.
