Working as an IT systems integration specialist at the Uelzena Group means one thing: new challenges every day. We operate a large computer network for all of our sites. The IT department currently takes care of 350 computer work places. We are constantly expanding this network.

IT systems integration specialists plan and organize this expansion. They set up networks and make sure that everything runs smoothly while working with the latest IT systems worldwide. Abstract thinking, having fun working with computers and open minds for future technical developments are absolutely necessary for this work.

IT systems integration specialists train users and assist them in the case of queries and problems. Therefore, they should have good interpersonal and communication skills and be open-minded.

The apprentices in the IT department of the Uelzena Group work within a young team. They have a comprehensive range of tasks and can implement their ideas and solutions right from the beginning. Added to that there is a great opportunity of employment after the exams since the Uelzena Group is growing and with this growth its demand for IT specialists.

PROCEDURE, APPLICATION AND CHANCES

What are the requirements?

Advanced technical college certificate or high school graduation (Abitur) with good grades in natural sciences (maths, physics) and some experience with computers and home networks. Suitable applicants are selected after the conclusion of personal interviews and a recruitment test.

Vocational training overview

The vocational training takes place within the scope of a dual system; this means in the company and the vocational school. Depending on the year of apprenticeship, the vocational school has to be attended once or twice a week.

How long does the vocational training take?

3 years

The following two exams are required by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce:

  • midterm exam in the second year of the vocational training
  • final exam (theory and practice) at the end of the vocational training period

What opportunities are available for training and further education?

IT specialists have excellent employment opportunities; however, they need to constantly gain further qualifications in order to keep up-to-date with the latest state-of-the-art information. Further qualifications are gained through seminars in the company or external studies. Within the company, there is also the possibility of specializing in certain topics and fields.

Furthermore, several further education opportunities are available to IT specialists, for example: 

  • IT specialist in various fields (TGA)
  • Certified IT developer, IT project manager, IT adviser or IT economist (IHK)
  • Certified computer science expert or certified business computer science expert (IHK)
  • Business administrator for data processing
  • Bachelor or Master studies of computer sciences (depending on the respective university entrance certificate)
